Biography

Prior to her appointment as Chief Executive of the Australian Academy of Science, Anna-Maria was Principal Adviser to the Hon Bill Shorten. Anna-Maria brings with her experience as General Manager of Questacon - the National Science and Technology Centre; and CEO of Science & Technology Australia. Anna-Maria has worked in senior policy roles in both social and economic portfolios. She has worked extensively with parliamentarians, the business and community sectors, and the media. Anna-Maria was recently a Director of the Board of Spinal Cord Injuries Australia, an organisation committed to creating independence, dignity and unlimited opportunity for people living with spinal cord injury. She is a passionate advocate for science, social justice and gender equality. Anna-Maria obtained her Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Melbourne University and has undertaken medical research in the field of neuroscience both in Australia and aboard. She is currently finalising her doctorate in neuroscience.

Biography

Milton has been CEO of Medicines Australia since October 2016 following an international career in government and public affairs. His experience in policy development includes two decades with the Australian Public Service (Prime Minister & Cabinet; Finance; Environment) followed by leadership roles at the United Nations Environment Programme (Geneva) and CEO positions with industry associations and policy organisations in Australia and the UK. He holds a Masters in Public Policy (ANU), is the recipient of awards from the UN, USA, Poland and Australia, and is a Life Member of the UK Institute of Directors and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Biography

Gail Morgan has outstanding high-level experience in government relations after more than two decades as a senior strategist at the highest levels in the Federal Government and business. She has an excellent grasp of the nexus between public policy and the corporate sector after working for leading pharmaceutical companies, industry associations and for senior parliamentarians. Gail’s experience as a leading political and campaign adviser informs her advice on effective contemporary campaigning. She has worked at the State and Federal level on a wide range of policy issues and her breadth and depth of policy experience – with particular expertise in health and aged care, industry and research and development, taxation, regulatory issues, and utilities – enables her to provide sound and practical advice to Newgate clients.
